Hi guys. Another question: Does MuNu automatically shut down the ability to make comments on posts older than a certain period of time? Some readers e-mailed us and informed us that when they tried to leave a comment on an some older posts, they got a "Comments are not allowed for this entry" notice. I tested it out myself and it's true.
And no, we have not shut down comments on older posts ourselves. :)
Is anyone else having difficulty getting to the "new entry" screen using Internet Explorer? I and others who blog at my site have been constantly redirected back to the sign-on screen once they [successfully] sign in and then click "new entry."
However, using Netscape did not present any problems! Weird.
...ban the IPs of spammers?
I rarely ever get comment/TB spam (guess I'm not that popular... *sniff*) but I got hit with a half a dozen comments from some seemingly normal sounding names where the links send you to arubadev.com or altposters1.com or something like that...
I just copied and pasted the IP addys and banned them... is this practice even worth it?
When I try to access my site (Bad Example), I get a 509 error - Bandwidth exceeded.
"The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later."
There's a bandwidth limitation?
Even stranger, my traffic hasn't been abnormal, so I *really* don't understand this.
There is this film from 1989 that I can't find a copy of as it is no longer in production. Yea yea, you can get South Korean "dvd imports" on E-Bay but that's another bag of gummy worms there.
Anyhow, someone had a torrent file of the movie but I have no clue what any of these files mean and how to uh... turn on.. the ... movie?
Below the fold is a screen shot of what the files are. I am not familiar with any of these file extensions. Does anyone else know how to um.. push "Play"?
Is their any way other than catching in on "the Five Most Recent" pings to catch and eliminate trackback spam and/or porn?
When one of these TB's go to an older post, how can we figure out which post to be able to go and eliminate it?
Umm, people, can we please not add normal words to the blacklist?
Evidently "cam" is not allowed anymore, which kind of negates words like "camera" and "Rancho Cucamonga" and "campaign"
Thanks!
My domain (rishon-rishon.com) suddenly stopped working. I checked the DNS in its registration, and for some reason it was
mica.mu.nu
ns.liquidweb.com
I don't know why - I set it up over 2 years ago and haven't touched it since. In any case, I changed it to
ns.mu.nu
ns2.mu.nu
and it's now been 24 hours and it's still not working. Is this right? Is there something that I have to do at the mu.nu end? Anyone know what's going on/how I can fix it?
In a week or 10 days, I'll be closing gmroper.com at my old host http://livingdot.com but I paid them for establishing the dot com name. So, I think that means I own gmroper.com right? at any rate, what I would like to do is make it so that if any body clicks on a http://gmroper.com link it will point to http://gmroper.mu.nu OR perhaps, keep it so that http://gmroper.com is active on this mu.nu server. What can I do to make this happen?
Thanks by the way to Pixie, PaulT and Phin for all the help with getting me moved. You guys are absolutely the greatest.
My blog is a member of another group and the group's list is on a "Blogrolling" -- blogrolling.com -- list which notes when each blog is updated (with a "NEW" sign next the blog's name).
However, after successfully noting when my blog was updated for a couple weeks, it appears something on the MuNu server is now preventing the Blogrolling 'bot from "scanning" my site to note that it's been updated.
Any ideas?
Umm, I seem to own everyone's categories now. See this post for what I mean....
Oh, and according to MT I only have the categories I set up....
BTW, evidently you can only see this problem on the main page....
Details in the extended
I used the Performancing WSYWYG editor. This is the second post I did with the upgraded editor, the other one was just fine. Only difference is I selected a different category.....
Ok, so this is weird. I have my page set to Pacific Time, and yet lately it's posting an hour behind. For example, it is 1:18 right now,and the item I posted a few minutes ago says it went up at "12:08 PM". I noticed this for the first time yesterday, and I've never had this issue before.
I verified that it is in fact set to Pacific time (GMT-8)
Any ideas?
What the hell....I got hit with comment spam today for Custom Car Seats. I've deleted it and banned them, and rebuilt twice. Their comment doesn't show up on my main menu page but no matter how many times I refresh or close and then open the page it's still there!
What's up?
UPDATED-never mind. A complete rebuild again has removed it. Weird. I hate custom car seats, may they burn in hell.
Ok, last night when I went to www.itsallaboutde.com, posts from Oct 2005 til now were missing.
Today, when I go to the .com address, I got nothing.
the .mu.nu address works fine. (http://itsallaboutde.mu.nu).
Any ideas?
Boohoo!!! I mysteriously lost some of my HTML! I'm not sure how I did it. How can I get it back? (ASSuming I CAN get it back!) Help!
Gratefully yours,
Mark
I wanted to upload a short video (it's currently an .avi file) but can't seem to do it.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
My password into cpanel accidently got erased and like a fool I didn't get it written down. Going to Cpanel help, i had them send me an email to reset unfortunately, I can't get to horde except through cpanel. I've tried my "usual" passwords (I only have about 5 that I use fairly consistently) and none of them work to get into the horde email program. Any ideas. Can someone reset the passwords for cpanel from the server?
A Clutz I am!
Well folks, I wanted to let everyone here know about a major change in my life that will have me leaving the blogosphere as an active blogger. MuNuviana has been a great place. There's not a better blogging community on the 'Net. Thanks for a great time.
I will still be reading you and "I expect your names to shine"!
If you want to know more about why I'm leaving, I wrote a piece on Eric's Grumbles that explains it.
If I use Cute FTP (and figure it out of course) can I use that to upload my archives from gmroper.com to gmroper.mu.nu and from MT 3.2 to MT 2.xx?
Baffeled I am!
I've encountered a couple of problems setting up the blog that I hope you can help me with:
The first concerns the process of importing my old posts from typepad. I uploaded the archive file to the right location, and a lot of posts and comments were successfully imported, but at one point the import failed with the following message:
Saving entry ('')... failed Saving entry failed: Column 'entry_author_id' cannot be null
I'm not sure whether this was a failure to read the file correctly or whether there was actually a null entry, but looking within the archive I can't find one. What would happen if I just started the import all over again? It got about 90% of the way through, so can I just edit the archive in such a way that it starts with the next post that would have been imported? If I start at the beginning will I end up with duplicate posts, or will they overwrite?
The second issue concerns the fact that although "parking" demosophia.com at demosophia.mu.nu redirects demosophia.com to the new blog it apparently doesn't redirect www.demosophia.com. And I can't add the "www" flavor to the list of parked domains because I get a message that it's already on the list. In other words CPanel doesn't recognize a difference between www.demosophia.com and demosophia.com although the name servers apparently do. What should I do?
I'm about ready to unpack my stuff in my new blogsite, but can't figure out why I can't get DNS management to work. I gather that one has to use DNS management to preserve all the links to specific posts as one migrates from the old site. I've created two Cname records, one for www.demosophia.com and another for demosophia.com. I'm not sure what to do for the A record, since the blog doesn't appear to have a unique IP address. Can I just ignore the A record? If not do I have to use URL forwarding instead of DNS management?
At the moment I've disabled URL forwarding, but my domain name still points to some broken page in the Blogspot domain, which just shows a lonely "ok" in the upper lefthand corner. What am I doing wrong?
I just removed usnews.com from the blacklist. Is there anything we can do about these false positives? Have someone check additions to the blacklist? A whitelist? Something?
Something weird happened to my template. Half of it is just disappeared. Is that me or did this happen to anyone else?
It only affects the sidebar, luckily. I went into the template to see what happened and it's like it got deleted below a certain point.
So anyway, I was reading through a comments thread at Random Pensees and noticed the name "Christina". Not sure if I knew who that was, I put my cursor over the name to see the URL. It was a .mu.nu blog that I'd never heard of; Just *dot* Christina.
Turns out that it's the same Christina who used to the blog at Feisty Repartee. She's been blogging again since October, but she's not the .mu.nu blogroll. Eeep!
Hope there aren't any other undocumented Munuvians out there.
