AFTER he had given them what they wanted, they tried to kill him. He successfully defended himself.The [car-jacker] shot at the victim after he handed over his keys, but the victim had his own gun and returned fire, shooting and killing one of the carjackers.
Note that he didn't use lethal force to defend his car; he used lethal force to defend his life. Note also that they pulled guns and shot first - he still won the argument. [KABA]

But the point of the post is as follows: The Left in general and the Brady Bunch in particular (and I believe the Labour government in the UK) believe that if you "give them what they want" they will take it and leave you alone. (What women are supposed to do with rapists is unclear.)
But this guy gave them what they wanted - or at least what they asked for: namely, his car. The strategy of "give them what they want" did not ensure that they left him alone. They apparently decided that they didn't want any witness to their crime - so since "dead men tell no tales," they tried to kill him.
The strategy proposed by the Labour government (actually pretty much law in the UK) and proposed by the Brady Bunch - of what to do in the face of crime - is patently absurd. "If you give a mouse a cookie, he's gonna want a glass of milk."

Appeasment is the dangerous presumption that the tyrants think like you do; if you give over your goods (or your body, or your health) they have no logical reason to continue to pressure you. Right? Sure. And the oddly dressed fellow with his foot on your neck just had an unhappy childhood and can be cured of his ills by understanding and fellowship. Right? Right...?
