Hey, in the game section of this board (http://newboards.theonering.net/...orum.cgi?post=478439) there is a discussion about the release list from tabletop miniature company Games Workshop which produces the official Hobbit movie miniatures. The full list can be found at http://pastebin.com/9EC3qw3b with additional information. I made the list a little bit more readable and deleted all the releases that are not related to the movies. There will be the following boxes in the next years: Dwarves: Kili & Fili & Longbeard Archers Dwarves: Bombur with Kettle Dwarves: Drogo Baggins & The Tavern Maid Dwarves: Dáin & Iron Hill Berserkers Dwarves: King Thráin & Longbeard Vanguard Dwarves: Young Thorin & Longbeard Mattockguard Dwarves: King Thrór Dwarves: Dragon Mithril Company of Dwarves Dwarves: Dáin Ironfoot & Iron Hill Boar Riders Dwarves: Dís, Mother of Kili and Fili Dwarves: Gimli (Stubble) Dwarves: Samwise Gamgee (Red Book) Wargs: Dire Warg Wargs: Grinnah & Mirkwood Werewolves Wargs: Feral Wolf Pack Wargs: The Werebeast Wargs: Lagdush & Orc Wolfcloak Warriors Wargs: Narzug & Orc Warg-Riders Wargs: Dol Guldur Orc Overlords Wargs: Orc Chieftain on Warg Wargs: Orc Wolfbone Shaman Dol Guldur: Leaping Spiders / Shiverfang Spiders Dol Guldur: Spiderlings Dol Guldur: The Willowhags Dol Guldur: Bloodwraiths Dol Guldur: Gwethil Dol Guldur: The Necromancer / Flesh Avatar Dol Guldur: Narzug & Orc Summoner Coven Dol Guldur: Tomb Wights Dol Guldur: Mounted Tomb Wights Dol Guldur: Saruman & The Ringwraiths Dol Guldur: Vampire Bat Swarms White Council: Mounted Rivendell Nobles White Council: Lindir the Harper White Council: Arwen & Estel White Council: Galadriel (Barrel) White Council: Radagast with Roäc & Swoop White Council: Galadriel (Water Steed) White Council: The War Council White Council: Galadriel & Lórien Drumhooves White Council: Chief Aravir & Dúnedain Rangers White Council: Dúnedain Runecaster White Council: Elrond & Rivendell Spearguard White Council: Elros & Rivendell Outriders White Council: Radagast's Chariot / Spellfire Cart White Council: Cirdan the Shipwright Mountain Orcs: Azog & Orc Needlers Mountain Orcs: Azog (Wounded) Mountain Orcs: Bolg & Great Goblin Bodyguard Mountain Orcs: Armoured Hill-Trolls / Frenzied Trolls Mountain Orcs: Orc Stone Thrower Men of Esgaroth: King Girion Men of Esgaroth: Fram the Watchman Men of Esgaroth: The Master of Lake-Town Men of Esgaroth: Bard & Greystreak Bowmen Men of Esgaroth: Bain & Quickstrings Gang / Trout Guild Militia Men of Esgaroth: Alfrid & Loyal Town Guard Men of Esgaroth: Garf & Footsoldiers of the Dale Grey Mountain Dragons: Fire-wyrms Grey Mountain Dragons: Braga & Goldscale Worshippers Grey Mountain Dragons: Venomblade Assassin Grey Mountain Dragons: Goldscale Priest Grey Mountain Dragons: Bofur on Cold-Drake Grey Mountain Dragons: Dragon Thrall Grey Mountain Dragons: Money Bags & Hired Knives Grey Mountain Dragons: Fell Hatchlings Beornings: Woodmen Healer Beornings: Fair Daughter Beornings: Meneldor & Swiftbeak Flock Beornings: Gorm & Woodmen Axethrowers / Skin-Changers Beornings: Whisperbark / Gnarlfir Beornings: Black Bear Pack Beornings: Enraged Beorn Beornings: Grimbeorn (Greataxe) Silvan Elves: Legolas & Mirkwood Fire Archers Silvan Elves: Mirkwood Warhost Silvan Elves: King Thranduil (Battle Garb) Silvan Elves: Tauriel (Mounted) Silvan Elves: Castellan Amroth Adventure: Gandalf's Quest Adventure: The Battle at the East Gate Adventure: The Fall of Dale Adventure: The Belltower Adventure: A Thief in the Night Adventure: The Clearing of Foul Roots Adventure: Assault on the Barrows Adventure: Clash of the Beasts Adventure: The Last Stand Adventure: The Raven Hill Adventure: Thorin's Folly Adventure: The Battle of Five Armies Adventure: Breaking the Siege Adventure: Revenge of the Goblin King Adventure: Blacksoil Slope Adventure: The Final Onslaught Adventure: The Clouds Burst Adventure: The Ritual Adventure: The Haunted Tombs Adventure: The Blight Breach Adventure: Gollum's Escape don’t fit into the naming pattern: Frodo with Red Book Smaug the Golden Gandalf (Dual Sword) Turin, The Dragonslayer

Interesting, but... does something appearing in official merchandise necessarily mean it's also in the films, though?

For instance, Gimli (stubble) and Sam are both listed, unless they are unannounced cameos...or unless their appearances in the earlier films count.

Thanks for posting this! Assuming these are all straight from the movie and not a few ideas from Games Workshop thrown in to fill out the sets, this has quite a few interesting tidbits of information in it. It sounds likes we'll be getting some were-wolf type things afterall, and the Necromancer's "flesh Avatar" sounds interesting. I guess Sauron will take some sort of form, even if it isn't his own, which makes sense because I think it was stated somewhere that Benedict Cumberbatch was doing motion capture for Smaug AND the Necromancer. I'm not sure how I feel about the Ring Wraiths showing up at Dol Guldur though... You can see a statue of one (or something like one) in the trailer, but I hope they're in some sort of different form. Otherwise the whole "disguised as riders in black" thing wouldn't make much sense.

Turin the dragon slayer? There is no reference that I recall in either The Hobbit or LOTR to Turin slaying a dragon. The only reference to him that I can think of him at all is when Elrond tellls Frodo that if he takes on the quest he would be as big an Elf-friend as Hurin, Turin or Beren. Hmmm?

I'm not so sure about Samwise or Gimli (or Arwen) either, and some of that dragon stuff sounds a little fishy too. But that one with Bofur riding a cold-drake sounds almost too random and specific to be made up. And I would have assumed the boar riders were game only additions if we hadn't heard about them already.

I wonder if they could get away with mentioning that Turin slayed a dragon. I mean...would it really be that much of a big deal? I'm not sure how strict that kind of thing would be in terms of rights. But I assume Games Workshop would have to hold to similar restrictions as the filmmakers.

Holy crap on a cracker! I'm off searching for pictures . . . . . . . . .
The Road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, "Thorin sat up with a start. 'Something is not right,' he muttered to himself as he stood up and looked towards the mirror . . . . . . . . . 'Durin's bones', he gasped, 'what's happened to my beard?'"

Whether all of these characters are actually in the movie or not, the lack of Elladan, Elrohir, and Glorfindel has me a little annoyed.

Even though the films will introduce characters like Radagast, it's a little too late to do much with Elladan and Elrohir since they were passed over in the trilogy. What is there to do, give them brief cameos or a few lines in Rivendell? *shrug*

I'm sad that we'll not get to see them in these films. Hopefully, whenever new adaptations are made we will get to see them in action.

Ok i'm soo happy that you found this. Btw nice find. Though the problem is that a couple of these figures seem like they aren't from LOTR or TH. Here are the ones I'm questioning: Grey Mountain Dragons: Fire-wyrms Grey Mountain Dragons: Braga & Goldscale Worshippers Grey Mountain Dragons: Venomblade Assassin Grey Mountain Dragons: Goldscale Priest Grey Mountain Dragons: Money Bags and Hired Knives Dol Guldur: The Willowhags Dol Guldur: Bloodwraiths (Why not just 'ring'wraiths) Either these aren't from the movies but are expanded upon by the company that makes the minifigures. Or they are from a different franchise/movie/thingy. I might be totally wrong but just putting in some input.

Men of Esgaroth: Bain & Quickstrings Gang / Trout Guild Militia. I'm not that into the whole Bain thing. Having a child warrior is not needed in the story. Now it seems like Bain will have a whole group of kids called the Quickstrings Gang and is intended to be 'cute' or something. Again there is little to go upon but i'm kind of worried about this.

Note: does not contain re-releases, non-miniature products or the miniature range with codes below 2xxx Note: contains only boxes that are currently NOT in mass production, expect release beginning in june 2013 at the earliest, the bulk of the releases for the first movie are done by then Note: leaked before the announcement of the third movie, unknown if this is accounted for Note: not every release has to be based on the movie, Games Workshop has released miniatures before that were omitted by PJ, like Glorfindel, Elladan & Elrohir, and so on

Events: -It is almost obvious that w/ three films none of the major events of the books will be left out. Battles: -It seems the Battle of Dale against Smaug will be a big feature in the films (especially considering its the biggest set they have built) -The Battle of Five Armies seems to have many events such as a siege, the breaking of a gate, etc. and in my opinion seems to be a combo of Pellenor Fields and Helm's Deep -There seems to be a "Assault on the Barrows", now if the barrows are part of Dol Guldur or not remains to be seen but we already know that the Battle of Dol Guldur will be in, as it was confirmed by Peter Jackson on FB -Like it or not it seems as if Dain will have a legion of Boar-riders as well as heavy infantry (Billy Connolly wasn't joking!) -Characters (Some of these might be just minifigures and not based from the movie, but who knows!) -Drogo Baggins is apparently at a time in a Tavern (Green Dragon perhaps) -I doubt (Samwise Gamgee, Gimli, Estel, or Arwen) are in but again who knows -The Necromancer takes a physical form called a 'Flesh Avatar' -Radagast will have met with Roac at some point in the films -Gollum's escape might be shown (Whether this is from Barad-Dur or Goblin Town remains to be seen) -Vampire bats are IN

But as Kangi points out (thanks Kangi, this came up in the other thread as well) GW has released characters that did not appear in the movies both under the movie banner, and apart from it. Given they have a "Battle of Five Armies" set, and other Tolkien characters that pre-date (and seem unrelated to) the movies, suggests they may have obtained a license independently of the movies and then entered into an agreement with the film to use movie designs as well.

seems to answer the question of how Sauron will be handled. Flesh Avatar implies that (normally) the being does not have a physical body. Gee I would really hate to see GM get in trouble over this... I really love their products.

still glad figwit made it in? (Just kidding! Love you Brett!) Incidentally, if you snoop around Game Workshop's amazing site you will find not only Radagast, but Tom and Goldberry, and even Dain and Balin (who looks nothing like movie Balin btw). You may have to use the search function there to find specific characters. For instance here is what I found when I typed "Barrow Wight" into the search box: See listing: http://www.games-workshop.com/...?prodId=prod1500565a ps they do have Elladan and Elrohir, but again they were released under "The Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game" title. This doesn't mean they will be in The Hobbit movie either.

A lot of these look like they could be legitimately be related to the films. The Dragons of the Grey Mountains! Círdan the Shipwright! I wonder what Saruman has to do with the Ringwraiths. Note how he seems to be excluded from the Dol Guldur battle. Also, what might Galadriel (Barrel) and Galadriel (Water Steed) mean?
