Description:
Here is another 1901 Baldwin built locomotive that started out as a 2-8-0 configuration but rebuilt by ATSF shops into an 0-8-0 at San Bernardino in 1931 with boiler from 1439. This loco lasted until 1952. Here it is moving some passenger cars around in Los Angeles. No photographer listed.

ATSF #3158 - Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe
Description:
This is the first Santa Fe to wear #3158. Built by Baldwin in 1916 as a Santa Fe class 3129 loco, it had small 58" drivers but could develop a respectable 200psi for its 25"x32" cylninders. Eng wt 295,000 lb, tractive effort 58,621 lb. The class was scrapped between 1948-54. No photographer identified.

Description:
Fairly nice original action photo from the A. Parsons' collection of the 1937 Lima built 4-8-4 steam locomotive in action in Los Angeles. Note on the back states "Painted red & orange". lSpecs - class GS-3, 80" drivers, impressive 280 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine weight of 267,300 lb, tractive effort of 64,355 lb. The loco was retired and scrapped sometime in the late 1950's.

UP 2-8-0 #6085 - Union Pacific
Description:
Built by Alco-Brooks in January of 1908 as Las Vegas & Tonapah #31 (serial #44751), it was renumbered in 1916 to Los Angeles & Salt lake #3620. Finally in 1921, it received the UP number 6085 as seen in this photo. The loco was "vacated" by UP (retired & scrapped) in April of 1948. Specs - class C-2, 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 22x30" cylinders, engine weight of 220,500 lb, tracitve effort of 43,305 lb. Unknown photographer.

Built by the Southern Pacific Sacramento shops, this 0-8-0 beefy switcher (class SE-4) was originally numbered #1310 but renumbered to this #1405 in 1938 and again as #4504 in 1948.The entire class was retired between 1956-58. Date is unknownso a "guess-timate" was used. No photographer listed.

SP 0-6-0T 565 - Southern Pacific LA General Shops
Description:
The SP had a number of specialized steam switchers for moving locos around engine terminals and backshops. They were the 'shop switchers'; they were usually retired locomotives whose original usefulness had come to an end. This loco started out as a 1903 Baldwin 0-6-0 #1109 and was converted in 1939 to this streamlined 0-6-0T for use in the LA General Shops area. Interesting to see the orginal loco face sticking out of the streamlined sheeting. It served as a shop goat until being "vacated" in April of 1956 and finally scrapped in June of 1956.
