The Defense of Marriage Act, DOMA, has been declared unconstitutional today. I expect this will go all the way to the Supreme Court as it heralds the death knell of traditional marriage. There be many religious people who won’t like that very much – Catholics, Mormons, Evangelical Christians for starters.
The ruling by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey S. White was the first since the Obama administration announced a year ago that it would no longer defend a law it considers discriminatory and reflective of a long history of denying equal rights to gays and lesbians.
Wonder if Beck will comment. Will find out in a few minutes.
Update: He didn’t, not a mention on his show or his site. I think it was worthy of a mention, disappointed.
