CeSar Caipirinha Recipe by Loews Don CeSar

Wednesday, July 27, 2016
I cannot believe the Rio 2016 Olympic's start next Friday! I will be glued to my TV cheering on Team USA! My friends over at Loews Don CeSar created a delicious cocktail for the Olympics, The CeSar Caipirinha available for a limited time (August 5-21). If you find yourself in the area (visiting or local), stop by Rowe Bar and give the CeSar Caipirinha a try! If not, you're in luck as I have the recipe for you!
Inspired by the traditional Brazilian cocktail, below is the CeSar Caipirinha recipe that Loews Don CeSar is serving up for guests to enjoy during their visit or recreate at home:

CeSar Caipirinha featured at the Rowe Bar

Ingredients
1.5oz Leblon Cachaça
6-8 Cubes of Pineapple- cut pineapple into ¾ in cubes
.5oz Kiwi Simple Syrup*
Tablespoon of fresh lime juice - optional
Ice
Pineapple wedge

Instructions
In a short glass combine the pineapple cubes with kiwi simple syrup and use a muddler to gently crush and squeeze out the pineapple juice.

New Prime Menu at Maritana Grille, Loews Don CeSar

Monday, April 4, 2016
A few weeks ago, my husband and I had an amazing dinner at Maritana Grille during our getaway at Loews Don CeSar Beach House Suites. Maritana Grille is my favorite restaurant in the area for a date night or celebration. The menu is ever changing, locally sourced and never disappoints. Maritana Grille's menu is separated in categories, Farm Greens, Ocean, Earth, Caviar, Blue, Small Farms, Global and Prime.

A new Prime menu at Maritana Grille recently launched and it offers a variety of courses that comes with a seasonal soup, house or Caesar salad. There are four steaks to choose from - everything from a 7oz Center Cut Filet ($47) to a 32oz Tomahawk ($85)! There are also 5 new shareable sides for $10 - I cannot wait to try the Caramelized Brussels Sprouts with house cured pork belly! Click here to check out the new menu.

We dined with our friends Jeff, Amanda and her husband Travis so a lot of the Maritana Grille Dinner Menu found it's way to our table. In no order at all, here are a few of the things we tried!
Global: Maine Lobster Pappardelle Pasta. This dish featured all of my favorites - pappardelle is my favorite pasta, lobster is my favorite thing on earth and truffle is my weakness! The pappardelle was homemade with fresh giant pieces of lobster. The sauce had such an amazing truffle flavor ($38).
Prime: Wagyu Filet Mignon - this was Gabe's dish and it was perfectly prepared and the steak cut like butter ($47).
Ocean: Yellowfin tuna tartare with cilantro cream ($17). We also had the Stone Crab Claws which are in season for only a few more months (market price).
Earth: Pork Belly over Parmesan polenta, broccoli rabe and walnuts ($15). We also tried the Winter Squash Bisque with stone crab, coconut and green curry ($14) and the Artisan Cheese platter with marcona almonds, truffle honey and charcuterie ($18).
Blue: Grouper. saffron jasmine rice, tomato butter, baby fennel and heirloom tomato ($36)
Small Farms: Venison, butternut puree, currant jus, brussels sprouts, apple, turnips, swiss chard ($36)

Dessert: No meal at Maritana Grille is complete without ordering the Reveal Dessert.

Rowe Bar at Loews Don CeSar

Monday, March 21, 2016
While visiting The Beach House Suites at Loews Don CeSar a few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to check out the brand new Rowe Bar located inside of Loews Don CeSar. The Rowe Bar was part of a $10 million renovation that recently happened at the Pink Palace and I can say, it is a wonderful addition to the resort.
The Rowe Bar, named after the hotel’s developer Thomas Rowe,  specializes in hand-crafted cocktails, craft beer and coastal cuisine. Rowe Bars specialty is three variations of the Julep and we had an opportunity to try two of them - the Gin Julep (Hendricks, St. Germain, Grapefruit and Arugula) and the Tequila Julep (Corazon Blanco, Chartreuse, Bell Pepper, Cilantro). They were served in a traditional Julep glass and were quite delicious.
Many of the cocktails from the Drink Menu were popular in the 1920's, each with a story behind it. We sampled other craft cocktails such as the Anytime Rickey (Beefeater Gin, Aquavit, Orange Marmalade, Lime Juice); Angels on Toast (St. Pete Vodka, Kiwi, Sauvignon Blanc, Lime Juice), Rest & Recuperation (Bulleit Rye, IPA, Lemon Juice). All cocktails were vastly different from the next and were full of flavor.
We witnessed a stunning sunset shortly after receiving our cocktails. The Rowe Bar offers patrons an indoor and outdoor environments. Inside, guests experience a subtle nautical feel. Outside sits a St. Pete Beach sunset lover’s paradise as shown in the video below. The outdoor space is anchored by a long linear fireplace that stretches across the porch, and leads to a raised deck where guests can relax at one of the three raised fire pits.

We also got to try the majority of the Bites Menu during our two night stay. During our first night, we had a cocktail hour and sampled East and West Coast Oysters, Beef Carpacio and a Meat & Cheese plate.
We had dinner later that night at Maritana Grille so we couldn't pig out too much. After seeing the Wagyu Burger on the menu, we quickly made plans to eat dinner at Rowe Bar the following evening. The Wagyu burger featured white cheddar cheese, sriracha bacon, crispy onions and french fries with bleu cheese. Delicious!
Since there were four of us, we ordered a few things and shared which is the way I would suggest trying out Rowe Bars offerings, this way you can try a little bit of everything.
Smoked Fish Spread
Wahoo Crudo
Poached Main Lobster stuffed with Lobster Salad
Peel and Eat Florida Pinks
Loews Hotels retained expert mixologist Eben Klemm to assist in Rowe Bar’s cocktail concept. Klemm, a former biologist, has created cocktail menus for some of the top bars and restaurants in New York City, and for other Loews Hotels including Bank & Bourbon at Loews Philadelphia and Precinct at Loews Boston. He is also the author the book “Cocktail Primer.”

“I set out to create a beverage menu that would complement the history and character of Loews Don CeSar. There were no blender drinks back in the 20’s; everything was made with crushed ice. That’s what we’re doing in Rowe Bar today. Adding the traditional Julep drink that was popular in the 20’s to the menu just makes the Rowe Bar that more attractive and distinctive” said Klemm. “We’re only using fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables in our cocktails. Each one will have its own refreshing personality and character” he continued.

The Rowe Bar is open Sunday - Thursday from 11am-1am and Friday and Saturday from 11am - 2am. Self-parking is available for $10 per car (up to three hours). The Rowe Bar at Loews Don CeSar is located at 3400 Gulf Boulevard, St. Pete Beach, FL 33706. Additional information can be found at www.loewshotels.com or call 727-360-1881.

Spring Spa Specials at Spa Oceana, Loews Don CeSar

Monday, March 14, 2016
While visiting the Beach House Suites at Loews Don CeSar last week, my friend Amanda and I had a Spa day at Spa Oceana. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon, getting pampered with a gorgeous view.
If you live in the Tampa Bay area and are looking for the perfect day getaway, this is the place to go. The view is unlike any other Spa I have ever been to and the staff is five star all the way. We were welcomed with a glass of champagne, which we deferred to have for our lunch on the rooftop post Sea of Life Facial.
The Sea of Life Facial  is one of the specials on Loews Don CeSar Spring Specials. It is a fantastic facial for those looking to unwind and has 17 different oSea products used during the 90 minute procedure. Your esthetician uses a variety of seaweed products found in Patagonia. If you have shellfish allergies, there is a variation of this procedure as Amanda was able to experience. The 90 minutes left my skin feeling amazing.
Following the facial, Amanda and I regrouped on the balcony for a delicious spa lunch. On the far right is my salad - the Farmers Salad with artisan greens, strawberries, walnuts and raisins. I switched out my bleu cheese for brie and added chicken. Amanda ordered my favorite grouper sandwich of all time - the Gulf Grouper Sandwich, with roasted tomatoes, arugula and seven grain bread. Amanda's husband Travis ordered the Joyce Farms chicken with roasted brussels sprouts and quonia. As I mentioned, we chose to have our glasses of champagne at lunch, so of course we took the time for a champs photo opp!
Or two!
Following lunch, I headed down for a sports massage. This was a must have procedure for me as I my weekend at Loews Don CeSar was two weekends post the Rock n Roll Half Marathon and had not had a massage since. The 60 minute sports massage is specifically designed for those who are physically active. It aids in relaxation and recovery between workouts and stimulates circulation. It is a runners dream at $140

Beach House Suites by Loews Don CeSar #BeachHouseSuites

Friday, March 11, 2016
This past weekend, we had the wonderful opportunity to spend a few days at the Beach House Suites by Loews Don CeSar. The 70-room all-suite property is located in St. Pete Beach, a short half mile walk from the recently recognized Historic Hotel of the Year by Historic Hotels of America, Loews Don CeSar Hotel.

In 2015, my parents stayed at the Beach House Suites prior to the $8 million renovation made to all the guest suites. I was able to go spend time with them during their trip. Fast forward to March of 2016 - I did not recognize the place upon walking in and that is no exaggeration. The Beach House Suites is modern, contemporary and all around amazing.
Why you should stay at Beach House Suites at
Loews Don CeSar

More Space!
The rooms are huge, starting at 600 SF. This will allow you to feel at home, with a gorgeous view and the first class amenities of Don CeSar. Each Beach House Suite has gulf-views and balconies. Along with the view, which never gets tiring, you will find a separate bedroom, living area with sofa-bed, dining room, washer and dryer, kitchenette with a microwave, mini-refrigerator, dishwasher and induction stove top. This is a huge plus for us as we typically make our own breakfasts and you can bring a lot of snacks.

Complimentary Transportation to Loews Don CeSar
If you stay at the Beach House Suites you will get complimentary shuttle to and from Don CeSar. We never took advantage of this service since the weather was absolutely gorgeous during our short stay. However, with a quick call, you can be on your way to enjoy the amenities of the Pink Palace.

Peace and Quite
Sometimes you need to unwind. The Don CeSar is an incredible property and is always busy. With only 70 rooms, the Beach House Suites will allow for a much quieter, relaxed vacation.
Large Balconies
The balconies on every of the 70 Beach Suites at Loews Don CeSar are so large you could do beach side Yoga on them. No kidding. I enjoyed breakfast every morning and was able to work a few hours from my balcony. Something about that view made the work day fly by.

Less crowded beach and a lot of activities
From paddle boards and kayaks to shuffleboards and ping pong, you will not get bored. No need to bring your beach chairs as you can rent them from the resort: Beach Sand Chairs $8, Luxury Beach Lounge $10, Large Umbrellas $15, Deluxe Beach Cabanas $30
 Room Service from Don CeSar
If you chose not to make your own breakfast, you can order room service from Don CeSar. In a quick 20 minutes, I received a hot breakfast in my room (poached eggs, fruit, sausage and fresh squeeze OJ).. They offer a variety of courses from various restaurants located in the main resort. You can even get homemade Ice Cream from Uncle Andy's Ice Cream Parlor.
Incredible views from each room
Every room at the Beach Suites has a gulf view. This allows every guest to enjoy the best sunset on the Gulf Coast from the privacy of your room.
Incredible Staff
Regardless if you are at Loews Don CeSar or the Beach House Suites, you will be surrounded by polite and attentive staff. Every person we encountered went out of their way to make sure our trip was amazing. If you don't believe me, all you have to do is look on Trip Advisor to see what others are saying.

Access to Don CeSar Amenities
If you stay at the Beach House Suites, you will still have access to all the amenities at Loews Don CeSar, including Spa Oceana, Health and Wellness Fitness Center, kids club and more.

Awesome Restaurants and Bars
Along with the Sand Dollar pool bar at Beach House Suites, you can take a short trip to Loews Don CeSar and find yourself among some of the best restaurants and bars in town. We had a chance to dine at Maritana Grille and experience the brand new Rowe Bar which I will share in a separate post!

Wednesday, December 2, 2015

Since I am giving away a few of my favorite things over the next two weeks, it only makes sense to introduce you to my favorite place is in Florida! Loews Don CeSar located in St. Pete Beach.
We are fortunate to live less than an hour from Loews Don CeSar, also known as "The Pink Palace". The Don is a historic hotel which opened in 1928. Over the years, the hotel has had many famous guests, was once home to the NY Yankees during spring training and was recently home to the filming of Bryan Cranston's Infiltrator
Although I have lived in FL my entire life, I still find myself in awe whenever visiting Don CeSar. Not only is the hotel gorgeous, it sits on Florida's gulf and has an incredible private beach. White sugar beaches, turquoise water and my favorite beach amenity ever - a beach chair with a flag to call your servers. Mimosa's on the beach without having to get up?
Loews Don CeSar also has a few of the best restaurants you will find in the Tampa Bay area. They have something for everyone. The foodies will rejoice at Maritana Grille where you can find tasting menu's for each season.

You can opt for a more casual meal at Sea Porch. If you find yourself there at lunch, get the burger. You're welcome.

My Favorite Things - Holiday Giveaway

Monday, November 30, 2015
I cannot believe today is the last day of November!!! I really hope you and your family had a blessed Thanksgiving! We rented a house in Orlando with my Husbands family, cooked up an amazing feast on Thursday and spent 5 days in Disney. While I didn't get any running in (boo), I did make up for the slack by "running" around Disney with a 5 year old, 4 year old and a  2 year old. To say we are exhausted is an understatement.

Since we spent the entire time at Disney, I never stepped foot inside of a store on Black Friday. This is a first for me and I am 100% ok with it. Speaking of Christmas shopping, I want to save you some money and time by giving away 6 of my favorite things over the next two weeks.
If you have followed this blog over the years, you will recall I did the 12 Days of Christmas giveaways. This year I am changing things up a bit. Instead of 12 giveaways, I reduced it to 6 and made those 6 items bigger and better; things I know you would love to find under the Christmas tree. Every giveaway I am doing over the next two weeks are brands I am passionate about and things I would buy friends and loved ones. If you aren't a runner, that is OK! I am doing 2 running giveaways, 2 lifestyle/travel giveaways and 2 small kitchen appliances.

The giveaways will last for two weeks, starting tomorrow, 12/1. Here is a sneak peek of what will be happening. This is not in date order, so be sure to check back daily and follow me on Instagram & Twitter for more details!

The Lobby Bar at Loews Don CeSar, Summer Peaches and Pepper Margarita Recipe

Friday, July 31, 2015
Last weekend, my best friend and I spent a day at the lovely Loews Don CeSar located on St. Pete Beach. After a fantastic lunch at Sea Porch and a relaxing afternoon at Spa Oceana, we headed to The Lobby Bar at Don CeSar, which is my favorite hotel bar on the planet. The mixologists are super talented, consistently changing the menu and use local fresh ingredients.
The Lobby Bar overlooks the Gulf of Mexico and is in the epicenter of the iconic Pink Palace. Along with amazing hand crafted cocktails, they also feature one of the best wine by the glass menu's I've seen (hello Silver Oak!). The icing on the cake (or cherry on top?) is the nightly live music...they've got a piano player who will blow your mind!
Speaking of mind blowing, check out this cocktail - "The Old Smokey" a house smoked bourbon in a scotch box with a smoking gun.

I was super excited to try out the brand new Summer Peaches and Pepper Margarita which was featured on the news that very morning! I was able to score the recipe which I posted below. This margarita was delicious. I will be making these this weekend!
My Cosmo loving BFF ordered.....a Cosmo. You always know a good cosmo by it's color and this one was perfect. So perfect, she ordered two!
Along with fantastic cocktails, Keri and I enjoyed a late day snack from the Prime Time Bar Bites menu at The Lobby Bar, Artisan Cheese Selection - Preserved Walnut, Baguette, Market Jam, Charcuterie. I enjoyed this along with a glass of Veuve Clicquot.
Lastly, I have to call these grits out. I saw them on the menu as a side to the Braised Pork Belly. They are Truffle Grits - so of course I had to ask for a side. I literally went cross eyed. Next time I am at Loews Don CeSar, I will try this dish in it's entirety.

The Lobby Bar is open to the Public and is the perfect place to spend Happy Hour and watch the sunset. They are open daily from 3pm-1am and even have an early bird and late night menu.

Summer Peaches and Pepper Margarita
½ oz Tres Generation Tequila
1/2 oz lime juice
Splash fresh OJ
1 oz Real Peach

Mix all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake well
Rim a large Margarita Glass with white pepper
Strain liquid over fresh ice
Garnish with lime Zest

Summer Specials at Spa Oceana Loews Don CeSar

Thursday, July 30, 2015
During our day trip to Loews Don CeSar last weekend, my best friend Keri and I escaped the rain thanks to spa day at Spa Oceana. We were pampered and for the first time in more months than I can remember, I finally relaxed. This day was 100% what both of us needed.
Keri and I both checked out the Summer Specials at Spa Oceana and decided on the Spa Oceana Splendor which is part of the Summer Treatment Highlights. I love spa days more than words but I have a hard time turning off my mind during them. I am always thinking about the emails I missed or the phone calls I have to make. Not the case with the Spa Oceana Splendor - I fell asleep TWICE.
This exclusive Ocean Mist body treatment started with a softening sugar body exfoliation. Once all of the dead skin was removed, you take a quick warm shower, then you receive a gel wrap infused with an exclusive blend of essential oils including orange, lavender and sage. Followed once again by another warm shower, you end with a massage. The treatment lasts 90 minutes and is $225. The state of bliss I was in was well worth that price.
Following our Spa Oceana Splendor treatment, Keri and I got our complimentary glass of pink champagne and headed towards the salon for a deep conditioning treatment. I got a well needed hair cut and style by Donald - who was amazing. Meanwhile Keri got a blow out.
