Aims and Scope

The International Workshop on Graph Based Tools aims at continuing the GRABATS series of workshops that serve as a forum for researchers and practitioners interested in the development and application of graph-based tools. Based upon mathematically solid underlying concepts, graphs are at the core of tools and techniques in various application areas, and dealing with practical concerns, like:

  • Tools for model-driven development,
  • Meta CASE tools or generators,
  • Tools for Visual languages: UML, Domain-specific languages, etc.
  • Model transformation and model management tools,
  • Visualization, animation and simulation tools,
  • Analysis of models, transformations and programs (incl. verification & validation, static analysis, testing),
  • Data Analysis and Pattern Recognition Techniques,
  • Tool integration techniques,
  • Software Engineering Tools,
  • Software Evolution,
  • Efficient algorithms (pattern matching, handling of large graph models).

In all these areas tools are developed that store, retrieve, transform and display graphs. It is the purpose of this workshop to summarize the state of the art of graph-based tool development, bring together developers of graph-based tools in different application fields and to encourage new tool development cooperations. We solicit papers on the aforementioned topics, as well as case studies, empirical and experimental results on tool scalability and uses of graph-based tools on novel application areas.

This year's workshop will have a special emphasis on applications of graph-based tools to Model-Driven Engineering. Different tools, built around industry-driven frameworks (like Eclipse), are based on the notion of graph to perform different activities, most notably different model transformations, like animations, simulations, refactorings and model-to-model transformations.

Invited speaker

We are glad to announce that one invited talk will be part of the technical program of GT-VMT 2010 given by
  • Prof. Barbara Koenig on
Methods and Tools for the Verification of Finite-State and Infinite-State Graph Transformation Systems

Call for Papers

The call for papers can be downloaded from here ( txt).

History

This workshop is the 4th in the series of GraBaTs workshops, which traditional have been co-located with ICGT:
  • GraBaTs 2002 at ICGT'02 in Barcelona (Spain).
  • GraBaTs 2004 at ICGT'04 in Rome (Italy).
  • GraBaTs 2006 at ICGT'06 in Natal (Brasil).
Then, the workshop took the shape of a tool contest in the editions of ICGT'08 (Leicester), and ICMT'09(Zurich). For ICGT'10, the aim is to retain the workshop format, while the tool contest is now organized separately, as Transformation Tool Contest 2010 together with TOOLS'10.

Submissions

The proceedings of this workshop is expected to be published in the journal Electronic Communications of the EASST. Two kinds of papers are solicited to be presented at the workshop: (1) technical presentations (with a regular paper of at most 12 pages) and (2) tool demos (with a short paper of at most 5 pages) (presenting e.g. novel features of existing tools). Of course, regular technical presentations are also encouraged to include a short tool demo.

Regular papers will be included in the post-workshop proceedings (published by ECEASST), while the authors of short tool papers will be offered to extend their papers to regular papers after the workshop, and thoroughly reviewed before including it in the proceedings.

For preparing your manuscript, the EASST templates are downloadable from here.

Please submit your abstract and paper using http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=grabats2010.
