About Limenas Marina
Limenas is the capital of the island and is commonly called “Thassos Town”. It’s the home of the main harbour.
The marina of Limenas regularly plays host to many boats and provides them with electricity and water. It provides excellent all around shelter.The harbor is pleasant and surrounded by some excellent restaurants.
Limenas served 95 competing sail boats in 2010 when Thassos was the starting point of the Aegean Regatta – an annual international sailing competition.
Go stern-to on the SE side, Good holding. If it is too crowded, you can go stern-to the E mole but the rocks cannot get too close to the mole and will have to take long lines with the dinghy.
Caution: The ancient mole extends underwater for approximately 300 m to the NE of the harbor. Stay clear.

Where to sail
Besides Limenas, you could also set your boat in smaller marinas, such as Limenaria, Skala Kalirahi, Skala Sotiros and Skala Prinos.
- Sail in the North – West Aegean Sea to see Mountain Athos and Coast of Chalkidiki.
- You can also have a sailing voyage to Samothraki , Limnos and picturesque Ag.Eustratios.
- If you are about to have a more than 4day excursion, cross the marine park of Sporades where there are many unihabited islands. Then you can sail to Skiathos , Skopelos and Alonissos.
How to get there
By Air
Kavala International Airport “Alexander the Great” (KVA) is the nearest (and smaller) airport, promising you the shortest and most direct route to Thassos island. Although there are only a few direct flights to here, it’s a mere 15 minute drive from the ferry port in Keramoti.
Thessaloniki International Airport “Macedonia” (SKG) is the furthest (and larger) airport, which requires a scenic 2 hour drive to get to the ferry port in Kavala and 2 hours 30 minutes to reach the ferry port in Keramoti. As it is the larger airport of the two, you’ll find that many more flight options are available.
Then you have 3 options from which to choose: rent a car, hire a taxi, or take a bus.
Keramoti (Kavala)- Limenas (Thassos) is the shorter, faster, cheaper, more popular and most frequent route with a journey time of just 40 minutes.

The island of Thassos is served by two direct ferry lines, originating from two different ports (Keramoti and Kavala). The ferry line of Keramoti reaches the Limenas port of Thassos after 30 minutes. There are sailings every half an hour, from 6am to 11pm,. The ferry line of Kavala reaches the Prinos port of Thassos after 1.15hrs. There are sailings 6 times per day, from 6am to 7 pm.

Leisure
- There is an ancient Greek Theatre in Thassos Island in which every year there is a summer festival with music and plays. Also there is an ancient Greek Market close by.
There are few folklore museums as well. There is one in Kalirachi, in Theologos, in Limenaria and in Thassos town. Also Thassos Town has an archeological museum.
You can visit the monastery of Archangels with the stunning views or the monastery of Saint Panteleimon in Kazaviti.
