Apply to Post-doctoral Program
We have post-doctoral training fellowships funded by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) Biomedical Informatics Research Training Grant. Trainees are required to take 4 courses from the BHI core curriculum, in addition to leading and participating in colloquia. They also work closely with faculty in a particular area of research, deepening their knowledge in biomedical and health informatics. Information about research interests of BIME faculty is available on our faculty pages.
Applicants for postdoctoral fellowships for 2024-2025 will be considered until the positions are filled. To apply, please send an email to bhigradp@uw.edu and include the following:
- Applicant’s interest
- Applicant’s contact information (address, phone, email)
- Names of three recommenders including contact information (address, phone, email)
- Three letters of recommendation: Your recommenders should email statements separately to bhigradp@uw.edu that speak to your potential and ability to engage in solid independent research. We generally expect attached PDFs of these letters of recommendation, but we also accept hard copy letters (mailed to the program office at address below).
- Current CV
- Personal statement: The personal statement should be a comprehensive narrative essay of three pages or less outlining significant aspects of your academic and personal history, particularly those that provide context for your academic achievements and educational choices. Categories to include: why you’re applying, what you intend to do during postdoctoral studies, your research experience to date, faculty members you would like to work with. Please also incorporate your academic history, degree and career goals, cultural understanding, educational challenges, personal hardships, etc.

Note that eligibility for these fellowships is limited to US citizens and permanent residents.
Postdoctoral fellows are appointed for a temporary and defined period not to exceed five (5) years, including postdoctoral experience(s) at other institutions, as determined by the University. Under extraordinary circumstances (e.g. family leave or personal illness), the University may grant an exception to this limit.
