I also have MacBook Pro with this graphics chip, and have benchmarked
VMD 1.8.4 under both, MacOSX 10.4.6 and Windows XP Pro SP2 on this
laptop. The Mac drivers are generally faster and smoother than the
Windows drivers, although the latter have far more features. Under
Windows I observed jerky frame rates, e.g. jumping up and down between
25 and 32 fps. Under MacOSX with the same scene I had a relatively
consistent 48 fps.
I'll admit that I know virtually nothing about tweaking Windows.
