Andrea,
  The 'dict' command appears to be a feature of Tcl 8.5.x, the current
versions of VMD are compiled with Tcl 8.4.x. If you wish to use Tcl 8.5,
you can compile VMD from source and link against the Tcl 8.5 library.
Let me know if you need help with this.
