Dear John and vmd-ers,

  I managed to have almost all necessary libraries built for building vmd from source .. however I get a very strange error when I try to compile babel 1.6 (see below). I am wondering if anybody has encounter such a problem

I am on a SuSE 10.0 on a AMD64 platform
