I have been running vmd-1.8.2 on Linux. We recently upgraded the OS
from Red Hat 9.0 to Fedora Core. I recently began having strange color
displays on the Fedora box. Upon opening the VMD and axis are in
grayscale. When I load a molecule, using the default name color scheme,
the molecules are colored fairly randomly. Sometimes all atoms are the
same color, sometimes two colors show up, the colors change as several
representations are combined, ... just for a few examples. Loading the
same executable on the Red Hat box leads to normal operation. Running
vmd from a remote host also gives me normal operation even when using
the bad fedora box.
Console output from bad Fedora Box

Everyone here is completely stumped. If you can give us a starting
point to begin making adjustments it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
