Hello VMD folks:

        Thanks to John Stone's kind help, the problem with the colors not being
right and the script not being read at startup was due entirely to the fact
that I had re-set my display properties settings to 256 colors. Changing
it back to 16 bit (high colors) solved the problem, in case anyone else
runs into this problem in the future.
