Congressional Summary.
In the Senate, Monday, a resolution was adopted for the appointment of a committee to investigate and report to the Senate, at the next session of Congress. upon the expediency of providing for reports of the debates of the Senate. The Senate bill to abolish the office of Regimental Commissary was passed Also, the House bill to prevent fraud in the Quartermaster and Commissary Departments, and the obtaining under false pretences transportation for private property.--Also, the bill regulating public printing. one of which provides for the election of a Printer for each House. The House bill to provide for the conscription of aens was taken up, and, after a discussion, was postponed until Tuesday.-- Messages from the President were received, trans Gen. Bragg's official reports of battles, and estimates for the support of Government for the six months ending 31st December, 1863.The House spent the morning secret session on the Senate Tax bill, and it is understood that a committee of conference was appointed on the disagreements on the same. In open revision, the diclary Committee was discharged from the consideration of the resolutions on retaliation, &c. At the evening session nothing of importance was done.
