--Salicetti, one of the triumvirs of Rome in 1849, has just died at Turin. He was one of Mazzini's most ardent partisans.It appears from statistics just published at Rome by the General of the Jesuits, that the total number of members of the order at the end of 1861 was 7,231, of whom 2,203 were Frenchmen.

The discovery of the fossil bones of a new and gigantic saurian, in a cutting recently made for a railway near Poligny, has just been announced. The animal must have been between 90 and 120 feet in length, and must have existed towards the end of the Triassio period.
