Warner, Charles Dudley 1829-

Author; born in Plainfield, Mass., Sept. 12, 1829; graduated at Hamilton College in 1851; admitted to the bar in 1856; practised in Chicago in 1856-60; engaged in journalism in Hartford in 1860; became co-editor of Harper's magazine in 1884. He was the author of A book of eloquence; The American newspaper; In the wilderness; Life of Washington Irving; Our Italy, Southern California, etc., and the editor of American men of letters; Captain John Smith, sometime Governor of Virginia and Admiral of New England: a study of his life and writings; A Library of
