Eddy, Richard, 1828-

Author; born in Providence, R. I., June 21, 1828; removed to Clinton, N. Y., in 1848; studied theology there, and was ordained to the ministry of the Unitarian Church. In 1861-63 he was chaplain of the 60th New York Regiment; in 1878 was elected president of the Unitarian Historical Society; and became editor of the Universalist quarterly. His publications include a History of the 60th Regiment, New York State volunteers; Universalism in America, a history; Alcohol in history; and three sermons on Lincoln, entitled The martyr to liberty.
