*Eu)pompi/das), son of Daimachus, one of the commanders in Plataea during its siege by the Lacedaemonians, B. C. 429-8. He with Theaenetus, a prophet, in the winter following this second year, devised the celebrated plan for passing the lines of circumvallation, which, originally intended for the whole number of the besieged, was in the end successfully executed by 212 of them, under the guidance of the same two leaders.
