CALLI´OPE

CALLI´OPE (Καλλιόπη, Pol. 10.31; Appian, App. Syr. 57; Steph. B. sub voce Plin. Nat. 6.17. s. 29), a town founded by Seleucus in Parthia. The situation is unknown; but it is mentioned by Appian as one of many towns built by Seleucus, and named by him after other Greek towns.
