3. standing upright or straight, ς. χιτών,= ὀρθοστάδιον, an ungirt tunic hanging in straight plaits, Call.Fr.59, cf. στατός; θώραξ ς. a stiff breastplate, plate-armour, opp. στρεπτός or ἁλυσιδωτός, A.R.3.1226 (v. Sch.).
