Cond.20:—Pass., to be given or paid in addition, “προσδίδοσθαι τὸ ἐπιβάλλον τοῦ μισθοῦ” SIG578.20 (Teos, ii B.C.), cf. 251 ii 12 (Delph., iv B.C.), OGI473.7 (Didyma, i A.D.); τὸ προσδοθὲν ἐπὶ τὸν λύχνον (sc. ἔλαιον) Sammelb.6796.169 (iii B.C.).
II. give a share of, οὐ χρή μ᾽ ἀδελφοῖς τοῦδε προσδοῦναι ποτοῦ; E.Cyc.531; “σοὶ μὲν προσεδίδου μικρὸν ὧν ἐλάμβανεν” Ar.Eq.1222; “κἀμοὶ πρόσδοτον τῆς ἡδονῆς” E.Hel.700; esp. dole out, of a sacrificing priest, “τὰ σπλάγχνα τοῦ μάντεως αὐτῷ προσδόντος” Plu.Crass.19; οὐδεὶς προσδώσει [μοι] τῶν σπλάγχνων; Ar.Pax1111, cf.955(lyr.); τῆς ὑγιίης . . οἱ πρόσδος give him (the sacristan) some of the health-offering, Herod.4.94: hence, dole or give in charity, “βορᾶς μέρος” S.Ph.309; “προσαιτεῖν ὥσπερ τοὺς πτωχοὺς ἱκετεύοντα καὶ δεόμενον προσδοῦναι” X.Mem.1.2.29.
