A.“-βιβῶ” Ar.Av.426 (lyr.), S.Ichn.166, Pl.Phdr. 229e:—causal of προσβαίνω, cause to approach, bring near, π. ἑαυτὸν κινδύνοις expose . . , Longin.15.5.
b. liken, make to resemble, “τινά τινι” Plu.Pomp.46.
2. metaph., bring over, persuade, “εὖ προσβιβάζεις με” Ar.Eq.35; “τὸ τῇδε καὶ τὸ κεῖσε καὶ τὸ δεῦρο προσβιβᾷ λέγων” Id.Av.426; τῷ λόγῳ προσβιβάζειν [τινάς] X.Mem.1.2.17, cf. Aeschin. 3.93, Plu.Cat.Mi.36:—Pass., “προσβιβασθῆναι πρὸς τὴν ἀλήθειαν” Luc.Philops.33.
II. of things, add, “ἐπὶ τούτοις τὸν κολοφῶνα” Pl.Tht.153c, cf. Phld.Mus.p.73K.
2. π. κατὰ τὸ εἰκὸς ἕκαστον reduce it into accordance with probability, Pl.Phdr.229e; τἄλλα π. κατὰ γράμματα καὶ κατὰ συλλαβάς reduce to letters and syllables, Id.Cra.427c.
3. prove, Alex.Aphr.in Sens.49.9.
