ἐπιδέξι^-ος , ον,
A.towards the right, i.e. from left to right:
I.. used by Hom. only in neut. pl. as Adv., ὄρνυσθ᾽ ἑξείης ἐπιδέξια rise in order, Od.21.141, cf. Pl.Smp.214b; περίιθι τὸν βωμὸν ἐ. Ar.Pax957; πίνειν τὴν ἐ. (sc. κύλικα) Eup.325, cf. Anaxandr.1.4, Critias 33 D.; without idea of motion, ἕστηκεν ἐ. Lys.Fr.94; sts. as two words, ἐπὶ δεξιά, opp. ἐπ᾽ ἀριστερά, Il.7.238, cf. Eust.ad Od. l.c.; “ἐπὶ δ. χειρός” Pi.P.6.19, Theoc. 25.18; τὰ ἐπὶ δ., opp. τὰ ἐπ᾽ ἀριστερά, Hdt.2.93, 4.191, 6.33.
2.. auspicious, lucky, ἀστράπτων ἐ. Il.2.353.
II.. later as Adj., = δεξιός, on the right hand, X.An.6.4.1, etc.; τἀπιδέξια the right side, Ar.Av. 1493 (lyr.); “οἱ ἐ. ἄνεμοι” Arist.Pr.941b12.
