ὑπέξ-ειμι , (
A.“εἶμι” ibo) withdraw gradually, Hdt.4.120, 7.211: generally, withdraw, disappear, “ὅταν μηθὲν ἔτι ὑπεξίῃ . . λυπηρόν” Metrod.Fr.28; of fire or snow, disappear gradually, Pl.Phd.103d, 106a; of water, opp. ἐπιγίγνεσθαι, Arist.Pol.1276a39: c. dat., make way for, “τὰς ἕνας ἀρχὰς ταῖς νέαις ὑ.” D.25.20.
