σκοπ-ιάζω , (σκοπιά) poet. Verb, almost always pres. and impf.,
A.spy from a high place or watch-tower, Il.14.58, Q.S. 2.6: generally, spy, watch, even on a plain, Od.10.260.
2. watch for shoals of fish, applied to certain members of a guild of lsis-worshippers, IGRom.1.817.8 (Callipolis).
II. trans., spy out, watch, c.acc., Il.10.40, AP9.606, etc.:—Med., look out for, watch, “τὼς θύννως” Theoc.3.26; “νῆα” A.R.2.918, etc.: aor. “σκοπιασάμενος” Callicrat. ap. Stob.4.28.18.
