And certainly on that day Clodius
returning from Aricia did turn aside to his Alban villa. But although Milo
knew that he was at Aricia, still he ought to have suspected that he, even
if he was desirous to return to Rome that day, would turn aside to his own
villa, the grounds of which skirted the road. Why, then, did he not meet him
before, and prevent his going to his villa? nor wait in that place where he
would certainly arrive by night?
