We understand that Gov. Smith will have a public reception at the Executive mansion this evening, commencing at 8 o'clock, and each Friday evening hereafter at the same hour.

--Runaway from the subscriber on the 28th of December last, a negro woman, named Sarah.
Said negro is stout built, of ginger bread color, about 22 years of age, and will probably weigh 150 pounds. She is possibly making an effort to escape to the Yankees; or it may be that she is lurking about the city and attempting to pass as free.
I will give the above reward for her return to me in Richmond, or confine meat in jail so that I get her again. Wm H Clarkson ja 7--3t*

--The 4th Virginia cavalry surprised an infantry picket of the enemy near Eldorado, Culpeper county, on Tuesday last, capturing three of them.
A large number of the three years men in the Yankee army are re-enlisting for the war, receiving in every instance the large bounty and thirty five days furlough.
The enemy will preserve their old organisation in fact.
Weather bitterly cold — the thermometer being eight degrees above hero.

An extensive sale of stocks and bonds took place a Wednesday at the office of Messrs. Lancaster &c. We append a list of the prices received, from which it will appear that there is no diminution in a demand for goo securities:
