Loudoun (Virginia, United States) (search for this): article 8
A brave and daring act. --Private James Oden, of Captain Meade's company, 6th Virginia cavalry, on a recent occasion, alone, captured five men of the 12th and 13th Massachusetts regiments, who surrendered to him their loaded Enfield rifles, and were marched off as prisoners by this gallant son of Loudoun county! The fact was officially announced to the brigade on the 1st inst., by Gen. J. E. B. Stuart, who says in his order: "This daring enterprise shows how little numbers avail against genuine courage and bold determination; and the heroic example of Oden is commended to the emulation of his comrades, and receives the warmest praise."
Strangers. --A large number of strangers arrived in this city on yesterday. This has been the case for several days past. Speaking of the way hotels thrive, we are reminded of the fact that a few nights since the St. Charles Hotel, on Main street, accommodated 1200 guests, showing at least that it had not lost its popularity.

They came from another county. The people of Loudoun, and of Leesburg particularly, are proving themselves not only staunch, but extreme Southern men."
