llowing account of the great match between Flora Temple and Ethan Allen: The match race of yesterday, between Flora Temple and Ethan Allen and his running mate Socks, has been looked forward to in sporting circles with the greatest interest — On Sunday afternoon the double team made 2.23½ in exercising galt on the Union Cour the double team gained an advantage which they kept throughout. The quarter was made in 37 seconds the half 1.12½, and the mile in 2.23 ½--Ethan Eilen and his mate Socks winning the race, after a contest which will be memorable in sporting circles for all time, not only as the fastest of the kind thus far made but one of the mosundoubtedly, it will be the most remarkable trotting match on record.
