Destruction of a Lighthouse.
--Several days ago, a detachment from company B, 67th regiment, N C troops, commanded by Col John N Whitford was sent down on the coast of North Carolina, and proceeded to the vicinity of Lookout Lighthouses, one hundred miles below our lines, during very ill element and disagreeable weather — across rivers and creeks, through swamps and bogs — and arrested the keeper of the new Lighthouse, (a building one hundred and sixty five feet high and very strong, situated near an older one of nearly the same latitude",) ascended the flight of steps, completely destroyed the lamps and oil, confined combustibles in the oil houses, applied the match and retired a short distance, to await the consummation of the plans already detailed.
