Arrests.
--Officer Crone, of the day police, arrested John W. McDowell yesterday, and put him in the cage, on the charge of stealing a horse, valued at $200, from Elias White.
Honorably acquitted.
--Notice has been made of the arrest, in this city, by officer Crone, of the day police, of John W. McDowell, a citizen of Georgia, on the charge of stealing a horse belonging to Elias White, of Fluvanna county, Va., McDowell asserted after his arrest that he had bought the horse from a man at Louisa Court House.
He was taken to Columbia, Fluvanna county, on Saturday, by officer John W. Davis, and examined before Squire Turner, who, after hearing the testimony, honorably acquitted the accused of any felonious intent, and discharged him from custody.
