--A reader informs us that the scarlet cockade, noticed in Saturday's paper, is of glorious revolutionary memory, having been adopted by the signers of the "Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence," Mecklenburg county, N. C., which was the first declaration of independence ever adopted in America.
All hail to the Old North State and her scarlet cockade — the first in favor of secession from Great Britain!
On Saturday more cockades were to be seen on the streets than on any previous day, but very few of them were worn by citizens.
