Meeting of Richmond ladies. --A meeting of the ladies of this city was held on Monday evening in the basement of the Broad street M. E. Church, the object being to initiate measures for the building of a gunboat for the defence of Richmond. A large assemblage of ladies, and a few gentlemen gathered. The meeting was opened with prayer by the Rev. Dr. Doggett. Daniel Rataliffe, Esq., was called to the chair, and explained the object of the meeting in an earnest and excellent address. Joel B. Watkins, Esq., of Richmond, was appointed Secretary. In response to a call of the President for any resolutions which any lady in the meeting might have to offer, Mrs. Vernon, of Georgia, presented a preamble and resolutions, which, after some alight amendments, were adopted.
