--The Raleigh Standard of the 10th, gives the following account of the recent skirmish in which Col. Singeltary lost his life:
On Monday week last a portion of the 10th regiment, Col. Singeltary, had a skirmish with some of the enemy's cavalry near Latham's Cross roads, east of Tranter's Creek, in which one of the enemy and four of their horses were killed, and two of the enemy captured.
The place where this skirmish occurred is within five or six miles of Washington.
On Thursday last a battalion, commanded by Col. Singeltary engaged a large force of the enemy, estimated at from 1,000 to 1,500, near Myers's Mill, on Tranter's about seven miles from Washington.
The fight lasted for more than an hour, both being behind temporary breastworks constructed of planks and logs.
Our loss was two dead besides Col. Singeltary, and three wounded. The loss of the enemy is estimated at twenty killed and some thirty or forty wounded.
