The first flag. --It has been stated that the first "Southern Flag" unfurled in Virginia, was that raised by some of the citizens of Petersburg, on the 22d of December.--Twelve days previous to this, a flag was raised on the lawn of "Manskin Lodge," the residence of Dr. Carter W. Wormley. This flag is 10½ feet long, 5 feet wide, with fifteen stars in the centre, arranged in the form of one large star, to represent the Southern Confederacy. It flies from a pole very tall and straight, and can be seen at a great distance, both in Hanover and King William counties. Its motto is "Nocet differre paratis" --i. e., "These who are prepared should never delay." It was unfurled to float until the South has obtained her rights to the last demand.
