In consideration of the small attendance of members, Mr. Brown, of Preston, appealed to the gentleman from Campbell to withdraw his motion to lay the resolutions on the table, Mr. Slaughter declined to withdraw the motion. He believed that the resolutions were like a firebrand thrown into the midst of the Convention, to inflame excitement and produce dissension. Mr. Clemens, of Ohio, rose to a question of order.
