Dickinson: A post-office not far from his residence becoming vacant, a lively contest sprung up for the appointment, and among the applicants was a Mrs. Nancy W--. Congress being in session at the time, the worthy Senator, in accordance with usage in such cases, was requested to call at the Department to look at the papers in the case in hand.
