Major-General McCall.
This officer is exhibiting some tactic of character, now that he is here in captivity, which might be considered unbecoming even if his rank were lower.
After being transferred from the Spotswood Hotel to the prison on 18th street, he sent back for some articles of clothing which be said he had left behey could be nowhere found.
The General subsequently requested the steward of the prison to purchase him some clothing, and wrote his order, as follows: "For Gen. McCall--One woolen shirt, collar 13 inches; one pair drawers, two cambric handkerchiefs, one pair socks."
The purchases were duly made, and the steward, presuminglished through the interference of the Yankee Government in our seaport trade, and which we all submit to with as good grace as possible.
Not so, however, with Gen. McCall.
When the articles were carried to him, he rebelled against the transaction altogether, refusing to receive the goods he had ordered and to pay the bill.
The
