Sword presentation.
--A number of the friends of Mr. J. C. Maynard presented him on Friday evening last with a sword and silver cup, as a token of their regard.
He has lately been acting as one of the Assistant Provost Marshals of Richmond, but had resigned to go to another field of usefulness.
Assistant Provost Marshal.
--Lieut. R. M. Booker, who succeeded Capt. J. C. Maynard as one of the Assistant Provost Marshall of Richmond, entered on the duties of his office on yesterday.
Lieut. Booker was for many months one of the officers (and an efficient one, too,) in charge of the C. S. military prison on Main streets.
Those who know him have confidence in him, and believe that he will discharge the duties of his onerous, laborious, and important office with skill and ability.

He is black, about 5 feet 6 inches high, has a small moustache, is at the present time broke out with camp itch, and has a pass from J. C. Maynard, major and quartermaster, signed by B. R. Lipscomb.
