Hustings Court.
--The morning session of Judge Lyons's Court was expended, yesterday, in the trial of Frederick Gauzier, charged with stealing of Joseph Heihoizer $100 worth of sheepskins.
Gauzier was employed in Heihoizer's tannery, but deeming a change of base necessary to his own property, with drew from the tannery.
Some time after he was indicted on two counts for stealing skins entrusted to his care and management.
At the last term of the Court he was tried on the first count and acquitted.
On the second count, the jury, after hearing all the evidence, retired to their room, and in a very few minutes returned with a verdict of not guilty. After being discharged for this prosecution, Gauzier was held to bail by the Judge to answer another charge preferred by the same party, at the next term of the Hustings Court of Magistrates, which meets on the second Monday in July.
There are but two more criminal cases to be tried before the Judge at the present term of the Court.
Fighting in Louisiana. Osyka, Miss., June 23.
--Heavy firing was heard this morning in the direction of Clinton, Louisiana.
It is supposed to have been a conflict between Lyons and a portion of Banks's army.

--A courier from Kellerton reports that Lyons captured near Clinton, La., on Saturday, a coming foraging train of 62 wagons of commissary stores, 208 mules, 30 Yankees, and 32 negroes.

--Will be paid for the apprehension of my boy Billy.
He is a mulatto of delicate frame and slightly aquiline face.
He is a good cook.
I think it not improbable that he has gone to South Carolina, where his father resides with the Rev. Mr. Reynolds. James Lyons. [ja 25--3t*]
Hustings Court.
--Yesterday Judge Lyons' Court spent the morning session in the trial of Patrick Tiernan, charged with feloniously shooting Lafayette Brooks, in his own house.
Tiernan, being intoxicated, called at Brooks's store to purchase a pipe.
Brooks told him he had no pipes; but the prisoner insisted upon making a search to satisfy himself.
On attempting to go behind the counter, Brooks forced him back and a scuttle ensued.
Tiernan premises, threatening to be avenged.
In the course of the evening Tiernan returned with a loaded pistol, walked up to Brooks who was sitting by the store and presented the pistol to his head.
Brooks seeing the weapon sprang up to defence himself, but as he did so Tiernan fired, the ball entering Brooks's neck.
The jury, after hearing the evidence, found the accused guilty of felonious shooting with intent to kill, and fixed his term of imprisonment at five years in the penitentiary.
The Judge soon after this passed sentence on the prison
Stealing.
--The stable of Hon. James Lyons, on the Brook Turnpike, was broken into last Wednesday night, and two acts of buggy harness stolen therefrom.
Mr. L offers a reward of $100 for the detection of the thief.
Cavalry Exploit. Jackson, Miss, June 25.
--Col. Lyons, commanding cavalry outside of Port Hudson, attacked Grierson, in the rear of Banks's army, yesterday, capturing fifty prisoners and fifty-seven wagons and teams, and putting the remainder to flight.

Judge Lyons held his Court yesterday, but disposed of no criminal business of importance, owing to the absence of witnesses in the cause set for trial.
From Port Hudson. Osyka, June 27.
--We have had a copious rain here.
A courier from Gen. Loring reports nothing new from Port Hudson.
A gentleman from New Orleans says it is reported that the Federal lost 5,000 in the fight at Port Hudson last Friday.
A private letter from New Orleans reports the yellow fever prevailing there.

--A gentleman from Clinton reports that Lyons is on the alert for marauders.
He keeps Grierson in check.
Banks and the fleet are still "pegging away at Port Hudson."
