Some of our cotemporaries boast of a process by which hides may be tanned in five minutes.--"Jenks" says when he was a boy he got his tanned in less than two, but it was by the rat-tanning process, and his daddy was the inventor. Col. Hobson Johns, of Rockbridge county, Va., fell dead at the Piedmont House, in Lynchburg, on Monday last.
