Mr. Brannon, of Lewis, moved that the Executive be informed that the Senate is in session and ready to receive any communication he may have to make. Mr. Robertson, of Richmond city, with a view of ascertaining whether there was a quorum present, called for the ayes and nays. Mr. Isbell, of Jefferson, thought the proposition of Mr. Brannon proper. Nevertheless, if the Senator from Richmond city desired the ayes and nays he could reach that result in a parliamentary way.
