Van Doehn, and myself followed; the troops remained at fifty yards' distance from the fort. I ordered also the surgeons, Dr. Fritz, of the Twentieth regiment, Dr. Humphrey, of the Ninth regiment, and Dr. King, of the Navy, to assist dressing the wounded.
