nt was William S. Goodwyn, a prominent planter of La Place, who subsequently became colonel of the 45th Alabama. William A. Scott, a young lawyer of Auburn, and now judge of Clay county court, at Fort Gaines, Ga., was second lieutenant. William Himes, a very bright and promising young man of eighteen years, was junior second lieutenant. By August 15th the roll of this company, including officers and men, contained one hundred names. About the 20th of July the company left Auburn for, B. F. O'Neal, now an honored citizen of South Sulphur, Tex.; J. Thomas Scott, promoted from sergeant and resigned, now dead; D. H. Garrison, E. H. Rowell, now living at Funston, Tex., a physician. Second Lieutenants Wm. A. Scott, resigned; Wm. Himes, resigned, recently Railroad Commissioner of Florida, and a popular citizen of that State, lives at Bushnell, Florida. Twelfth Alabamians who surrendered at Appomattox, April 9th, 1865.
