d meeting of this body was held yesterday at 4 o'clock, at the City Hall. Mr. Hill, from the Committee on Police, to whom was referred the resolution inquiring idient to legislate upon the subject. [The report was laid on the table.] Mr Hill offered a resolution, which was agreed to instructing the Committee on Police anagement of the Almshouse from that of the Shockoe Hill Cemetery. Passed. Mr. Hill, from the special committee on saleies, submitted a report proposing to add $4egulating carts and drays. The resolutions were adopted On motion of Mr. Hill, it was resolved that the Committee on Finance be instructed to inquire into tnemy, on the part of its citizens. The President appointed Messrs. Notice. --There was placed in the jail of the county of Charlotte, on the 23d of March last, a negro man represented as a runaway. The negro is not disposed to give the name of his owner. He calls himself by the name of Richard. I understand from Mr H S Carrott of Greensville co, Va, that this boy was sold in Richmond by Dickinson & Hill, on the 2d or 3d of last December, as the property of James Brown's estate. The boy is 23 or 24 years old, 5 feet 6 or 8 inches high, has good teeth, and is of dark complexion. His owner will please come forward, prove property, pay charges, and receive his negro.
