The Legislature. In the Senate, Joseph J. Graham, elected to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Col. William E. Peters, of the Forty-first District, appeared and took his seat. Mr. Alderson moved a resolution upon the expediency of exempting from taxation all non- commissioned officers and privates in the service. Mr. Keene asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill to reorganize the militia, which was referred to the Committee on Military Affairs. Mr. Carson introduced a resolution inviting Gen. John H. Morgan to a seat in the Senate Chamber, to be occupied by him at his pleasure, during his stay in Richmond. Messrs. Carson, Bruce, and Christian were appointed on the committee.
