The Preluck. --A special dispatch to the Chattanooga Rebel, dated Decatur, Ala. May 26 says: Gen. Forrest is doing glorious work. He has been fighting the enemy since Thursday last. The fight was thirty miles from here.--He captured a large number of prisoners. He now has seventeen hundred Yankees out off in the mountains, South of this place, and it is thought he has captured them Starnes's, Biffle's and Edmondson's regiments have been engaged. Our loss is 7 killed and 19 wounded. He retook our cannon, and one from the enemy. The Yankees have evacuated Tuscumbia.

some 29 miles west of Rome. Here Forrest promptly sent in a flag of truce and demanded the surrender of the whole Yankee command. This was the boldest game of bluff on record. Forrest, with less than 500 men, on worn-out horses, demanding the surrender, far out in the country, on a fair field, of 1,368 privates and 101 officers all well armed and in line of battle! For cool audacity, it excels all history or imagination. It must be remembered that when he sent back Roddy and Edmondson, he started on the chase with about 800 men, ten of whom had been killed, forty wounded, others left, and details sent back till his actual force was less than 500. During the chase he had captured and sent back over 300 of the Yanks. Upon this bold demand a parley ensued between Gen. F. and Col. r, in the Petersburg District, have such majorities as to settle the question and fix them as the representatives elect. Mr. Bocock had no opposition in the Buckingham District, and Mr. Rives none in the Albemarle District. In the Augusta District the contest between General Baldwin and Governor Letcher has been very animated perhaps the most excited in the election. This may be kept in doubt, also, by the army vote. In the Montgomery District the contest is also likely to be close. Mr. Edmondson, for so many years the representative in the Federal Congress, opposes Mr. Staples, member of the last Confederate Congress. Walter Preston, member from the Abingdon District, is opposed by the famous Fayette McMullan, who has been canvassing industriously for the position. In the district composed of Caroline, &c., which now includes Culpeper, Messrs. James Barbour, jr., and Dejarnette are the candidates.
