Johnson's division bivouacked near Cedarville; Early's between the north and south forks of the Shen's Georgia and Hayes's Louisiana brigades, of Early's division, became engaged near Kernstown, aboGeneral Ewell, after consultation with Maj-General Early, determined upon a flank movement, in ordeof skirmishers, so as to divert attention from Early's operations.
