Mrs. Wm. H. Clarke and daughters, of Halifax, have knit ninety-five pairs of thick yarn socks, and sent them to one of the Maryland companies, under Capt. J. Lyle Clarke.
Such benevolent industry as this effects the highest honor upon the patriotism of these ladies, and is worthy of universal imitation.
Yankee officers.
--The number of Pope's officers in the Libby prison was increased on Sunday evening by the addition of 1st Lieut. Wm. H. Clarke, of I company, 21st Massachusetts regiment, and 2d Lieut Geo. C. Perker, of B company, same regiment.
They were taken at the battle of Manassas.
